A Recap

Dave is home and settling back in to family life! It is so good to have him back and to hear first hand how God worked this past week! To do the work of the Lord, to know you are in His will is such a blessing! The world and people … sometimes even friends … can be so confusing but there is such a peace that comes from having the Assurance that God is in control and you are doing what He wants you to do.

Our thankfulness and appreciation go out to those of you who prayed for us during this time. God is good and has carried us through once again! This is another life situation that we can look back on and say that at times it was difficult, but God's grace was greater… HIS strength was powerful… and we pressed on so that HE could receive the glory.

What a testimony Dave has about the last full day he was there! Many of you may have been praying about the tracts he wanted to pass out and whether or not he would be able to pass out 600 tracts at the two events he was going to that day. I was so excited when I heard that there were so many people at the "Holy Door Ceremony" and that Dave was bombarded … so much so that he was able to pass out hundreds of tracts. He had to keep back a few so that he could have any for the next event that day! He also tells about nearly missing Ali. Later that day, he was going to leave on the bus, but decided to go ahead and stay until the next bus came along. Meantime, Ali showed up and had not had a very good day. Dave was able to take him for coffee and had a good conversation with him one more time. Seeds were planted in that man's life and we continue to pray for his salvation!

As this particular trip comes to a close, we ask that you fervently pray for the people who received tracts and John/Romans. There are many that Dave got to know by name but there are so many more that received a tract or Bible and we have no idea what God will do with that or what their life is like. Please pray fervently for lost souls who are without hope… that the Holy Spirit would use this in their life to reveal truth to them.

Plans are already under way for our family to return to Italy this next spring. Would you join with us in praying for God's direction and for His perfect will? May God bless you for the important role you play in this ministry!

…….. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16

Homeward Bound

So sorry for the very quick post, but wanted to let you know that Dave is on his way back today (Monday) and currently up in the air!

We will fill you in on the MANY blessings of yesterday as soon as we can. For now, please be praying for Dave's safety and for his transition here.

Thank you!

The Climax

Dave has begun packing and preparing for his trip home on Monday morning (Rome time). Before he leaves, he has a big day on Sunday! While we are all sleeping, Dave will be busy. Will you be so kind as to say a prayer before you go to bed Saturday?

Here are some of the events of his day….

The P*pe will be having a special service to open a "Holy Door" at one of the larger churches in Rome. He hopes to be there and pass out as much TRUTH as possible.

Another event of the day happens later in the afternoon at the V*tican. The "Angelus Domini" will be conducted and as far as I can tell, is a special prayer involving Mary and the Angel, Gabriel, because of his role in the news of Jesus. Again, Dave hopes to be there and passing out TRUTH.

Out of the 4000 tracts that Dave took with him, he has about 600 left. He's hoping to get them all passed out tomorrow during these events, but if not, he'll go and do some apartment distribution.

Please be praying for his strength, for his back and for guidance in knowing just where to be and when. We are confident that God can direct Dave's steps to the souls who God has already been working on.

I'll try to have an update for you Sunday evening, our time. Thank you for praying!

A Face to a Name

Would you like to put a face to a name? Dave has sent some pictures back of people who he is meeting and now, (Praise God!) we have the opportunity to pray for them! I'll just let the pictures speak….

This guy's name is Bob, from Maryland, and he plays guitar on the streets. He didn't want a John/Romans. After talking with him, Dave learned that he grew up Catholic. Dave was able to tell him that the Catholic church puts people in bondage and that Jesus came to make us free. He left, but about two or three minutes later, he came back and took the booklet. Praise God!

The guy in blue on the left is from Iran.  The guy on the right and wearing glasses is from Peru. His name is Antonio and he took a Spanish John/Romans.

Remember Ali, from Egypt? He also stands on the street corner… near Dave… and passes out information such as restaurant coupons or tourist info. Dave sees him very frequently and has been able to talk with him quite a bit. A couple nights ago, Ali took Dave out for coffee. Dave learned that he is separated from his wife because of his mother n law not liking him. He has children and he is not at all happy about the whole situation. Please continue praying for him and for Dave as he speaks truth to Ali. Please pray specifically for Ali's salvation!

Thank you!

First off, we would like to say thank you so much for all your prayers. Several of you have been so kind to let us know you're praying. Knowing this helps so much!

Dave continues on with tract and John/Romans distribution. A couple people stuck out to him today. One was a teenager who was sitting and waiting for something. Dave went up to him and gave him a John and Romans. The boy asked why he was doing such a thing. Dave had a good conversation with him. He also met a lady from Romania today. She is not happy with the church in Italy. Dave gave her a John and Romans and a tract in Romanian. Praise the Lord he had some with him!

Dave is in good spirits, but his back has started hurting. We were involved in an accident about a month and a half ago. Since then, he has had trouble with his back. Please pray that this would not be a hindrance.

We are doing well here at home, but there have been several major issues that have come up this week. It seems to be a bombardment! A verse that has stuck out in my mind has been, "But He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee. My strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me." 2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV

Again, thank you for your prayers! We are so blessed!

God is Good…All the Time!

When we first went to Italy, we visited and saw Italians. We were burdened for them. Over the years, God has really widened our burden and gave us more and more opportunities to reach the world. Standing on a street corner in Rome, one can see people from all walks of life…from all over the world…carrying all kinds of needs. What if just one Chinese person was saved and then took that back home? One Egyptian, one Australian? and so on…..  Please join us in praying!

Dave is doing really well. He is tired but doing well and is really enjoying being able to do what he is doing. Our family was so excited to be able to talk with him a bit last night, so that encouraged our hearts as well. Here are a couple pictures and stories from his day…..

Dave saw these two Chinese ladies needing help to carry their heavy suitcase up the stairs of the Metro.  Dave helped them up the stairs and then gave them a tract. Please pray for their salvation!

This is Elizabeth. She is Italian, but her family lives in Australia. She loved what Dave was doing and wanted to help him pass out tracts. Today she is on her way to Australia and wanted to take her Aunt a Bible in Italian. Dave contacted a pastor friend of ours in Rome and was able to get her a full Bible instead of just the John and Romans that we have. Elizabeth was able to pick it up last night so she could take it today.

Praise the Lord!

Here is a picture of Ali, the Egyptian that Dave met yesterday. Please continue praying for him! Did you know that you can reach the world by just standing on a street corner in Rome?  "…. yet not I, but Christ liveth in me".  Dave said that he spent the whole entire day today passing out tracts. He's tired, but he said he had so much fun! Doing the Lord's work IS fun!

Praise the Lord!  -

  • Dave had an EXCELLENT first night of sleep!
  • He had a great day of passing out tracts!
  • God continues to provide!

Prayer Request -
  • The eyes of the blind opened to the truth of God's Word.
  • Dave would be in the right place at the right time.
  • Protection and when needed, "a blind eye".
  • Our family as a whole.
What a blessing prayer is! What encouragement we receive knowing there are those praying! Thank you!

Hit the Ground Running!

Dave has arrived safely in to Rome! I had to wait awhile yesterday to find out, but I didn't hear of any plane crashes, so I wasn't too concerned! Dave's phone is not working as expected. He isn't too thrilled about that, but we thank the Lord for computers.

Dave had a good flight but he wasn't able to sleep, so…. after arriving in to Rome in the morning, he hit the ground running! One thing we have learned as we've traveled, is to try to acclimate to the time zone as quickly as possible. As tired as he was, he didn't want to go to bed yet, so he went and passed out tracts.

Prayer Requests -

  • Please be praying for an Egyptian man whose name is Ali.  Dave was able to talk to him for quite some time. He was also able to talk to an Italian Pentecostal for awhile.
  • Please be praying for Dave's safety and health.
  • Pray that God would guide Dave's footsteps to the people whose hearts He has already been working on.
  • Please pray for us here at home.

All Roads Lead to Rome - Mission Trip December 2015

Dave is off to Rome today! We appreciate your prayers as he goes and as he's there for the next week. Please pray specifically that his feet will be lead by God to the souls whose hearts are searching.

This week begins a year long "Year of Jubilee" designated as such by the Pope. This year, his focus is on mercy. There is a lot of information out there, but we believe you will find the following article very interesting. Your comments are encouraged!

Dave is not the only one going to Rome this week. In fact, that's why we prayed and asked the Lord for direction. Dave wants to be there and sharing TRUTH with those who are coming. He's already had a chance to do that as he waited for his flight….

Keep checking back each evening for an update and prayer requests for this week! We are so grateful for your prayers!

Hebrews 11:13,15,16

... These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off and were PERSUADED of them, and EMBRACED them, and CONFESSED that they were STRANGERS and PILGRIMS on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country... But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
